Project 1 The Invisible Cat

Online comic from my synthesis project 'Tales and Trials': The fictional narrative illustration of Social Anxiety and interactive puzzles. This project aims to use comics and storytelling to inform teenagers (13-14 years old) about Social Anxiety and negative thinking patterns.

Social Anxiety is an overwhelming fear of social situations. Social interactions and social norms can increase people's ambiguities and anxieties about social situations. Therefore, most people with social Anxiety appear shy or anxious in several social circumstances, and those feelings develop from several physical and mental factors from childhood to adulthood. People with mild to moderate social anxiety symptoms are most likely to have frequent negative thought patterns, which keep them anxious.

As a result, I saw an opportunity to apply my illustration practice in narrative illustration and my interest in sequential imagery. I have developed this project to convey Social Anxiety and negative thinking patterns by using the comic strip to engage with a young audience. The invisible cat comic focuses on a teenage girl protagonist struggling with her Anxiety that appears to be an invisible cat. I interpreted the mischievous cat personality as an Anxiety sensation that keeps appearing and annoying her daily social activities.

Furthermore, in order to engage with an audience,
I created a puzzle to challenge the reader between chapters and use it to represent the narrative more interactively.
Even though this project is in the development process, I hope it can start a conversation about Social Anxiety, especially awareness of negative thoughts.

Project 2 Gomu's Family Comics

Shop 01-05.jpg

The Yaowarat Gold shop (Thailand) has an original character design (Gomu's Family) for advertising and merchandise such as school backpacks, plushies, and more.

Therefore they want to engage more with the younger audience on their social media platform (Facebook Fanpage) which aims to increase their sales. As a result, I proposed the idea of creating a comic to explain the character's origin to be able to generate more content following a narrative.

As a content creator, I saw an opportunity based on the mystery of the character themselves; the golden jelly-looking creatures that seem like aliens. I started to create the narrative about who they are and where they came from and plan to connect it back to the gold shop.

Consequently, I created 4 chapters of the original comic that related to the merchandise and was able to engage with their audience. Thus, I have the experience to create a new narrative following the actual brand identity and generate content that aims to engage the target group using narrative illustration.

In 2019 I decided to pursue my ambition to study abroad, and it was the same year that the world about to challenging by the pandemic.

This project interpreted my anxiety that built up following the outbreak situation on the news, such as border restrictions or shortage of facemasks. The design process was a therapeutic exercise for me throughout a few months of uncertainty. Consequently, these narrative illustrations grab the attention of the online platform.

As a result, it has been featured on Behance.com's front gallery page in the category of Illustrator (March 2021) and Illustration (December 2021). Furthermore, I got invited by Codastory.com to create the final illustration to be part of "Drawing Covid-19; Artists around the world illustrate coronavirus in their community".

Project 4 / Infographic and Animation

After graduating Bachelor's degree, I started my career as an Illustrator at Visualize Lab Thailand. I had in charge of all illustration duties, including creating a narrative that aligns with clients' promotional material, sketching and designing the character in the various styles before planning the storytelling and creating a storyboard. And more importantly, I had to finalise all the graphic material in every scene and prepare a file for the animator.

Due to the variety of clients, my practice in visualisation and storytelling gradually improved, as well as my Illustration and Animation skills. I found myself enjoying the creative process of the Infographic to be able to contextualise complicated subjects into media for the bigger audient.
